Slate repair and copper valleys

Vermont slate
A slate roof from 1891 that nobody had been able to price without scaffolding. From the air we counted sixty-one slipped slates and four valleys past repair.
Nobody had been able to price this roof without scaffolding, and the scaffolding alone was quoted at more than the congregation had.
What the flight showed
Sixty-one slipped slates on the nave, pinholes along all four valleys at the crossing, and lichen lifting the slates on the west transept. The apse and both spires were sound.
What we did
Slates rehung on copper hooks, four valleys relined in copper, and the lichen cleared by hand from a roof ladder. The towers were inspected and left alone.
